The insecurity of the Igbo in Nigeria remains undeniable, and it has affected nation building, security and welfare greatly
The first part of this article ended with the end of Nigeria/Biafran civil war in 1970.
Although the war was declared ended in principle, the subtle battles against the Igbo still continued till date.
It was referentially stated that after twelve hours of indiscriminate bombing, Warsaw saw war!
Likewise, within and beyond that period of Nigeria’s military cum mercenary exploits in Biafra, Biafra became battered!
Actually the war was declared ended, and a position of, No Victor, No Vanquished, was officially pronounced. Nevertheless, what continues to happen till date still points to the fact of the insecurity of the Igbo in Nigeria.
When the war was declared ended, many parts of Igbo land were still under heavy military siege and attacks.
The Asaba male massacre, the Njiaaba massacre, the Uzuakoli and so on, continued to experience waste of many civilian lives.
Many Nigerian soldiers remained in many villages, exploiting them both financially and materially.
Many married women were seized from their husbands, as nubile girls were captured and raped as wartime odalisques.
Then came the issue of reparation to Biafrans. Ten Pound was the amount given to presumably eligible Biafran to start economic life again.
Nevertheless, like economic crazy horses and charging bulls, the Biafrans lunched out with those stipends by faith.
Today, Igbo land has been transformed even beyond the haven it was before the war.
Despite calculated sporadic cum incessant attacks on their persons and property, they are still always ahead of their compatriots.
The Igbo are like fire flakes which cannot be wrapped with a piece of clothe without burning through it.
They are so optimistic, strong and dogged that they can squeeze out copious waters from dry stones.
Their creative and productive ingenuity and entrepreneurial capabilities are so much that they always being blocked to progress by their compatriots!
It was allegedly stated that no Igbo should smell the presidential seat in Nigeria. And there are indications that all efforts are being made to maintain such error of thought and decision!
Because such political decision, disposition and retention is synonymous with self deception, condemnation and crucifixion.
By their characteristic wisdom, knowledge, education and charisma, it must take an Igbo to salvage Nigeria from her diverse woes!
A reference point remains In Nigeria’s history when Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was on that apex seat.
It was a stroke of providence and the Almighty God proved great points of positive reference while his stay lasted.
How much was a litre of fuel sold during his period as the president of Nigeria?
How much is that same litre of fuel sold today in the same Nigeria?
What was the state of the nation’s economy during his tenure and what is it today?
The Insecurity situation that is almost swallowing every nook and cranny of the nation, was it palpable during his tenure?
These are to mention but a few. Comparisons help to elucidate facts, else it remains useless when addressed to those who have refused to listen and reason well.
No matter the rhetorics employed to narrate events out of context, it is still imperative to note that such communicative abracadabra will only deceive the simple.
The insecurity of the Igbo in Nigeria remains undeniable, and it has affected nation building, security and welfare greatly.
And until the Igbo are properly secured and holistically integrated into the nation’s scheme of things, the future continue to remain bleak!
