Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday in Jigawa as a head on motor collision left nine persons dead and eleven others with degrees of injuries.

The fatal motor accident occurred in Kyarama, Ringim Local Government Area of JIgawa State.

The accident was confirmed in a statement to journalists by the Jigawa State police Command, spokesperson, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam.

According to Adam, the incident occurred when two vehicles had a head on collision.

He said, “We regret to inform the public of a tragic motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier today, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at around 0200hrs, in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area (LGA), Jigawa State.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved two golf 3 saloon vehicles. With reg no. Kaduna MKA 687 AY, driven by one Adamu Sunusi, of Hadejia LGA. He was coming from Abuja heading to Gujungu town. And a golf 3 with reg no. KWL 606 KA, driven by one Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, coming from Hadejia, heading for Kano.

“On reaching Kyaramma village, the vehicles had a head on collision. As a result, nine persons lost their lives while several others were injured to varying degrees,” the statement stated.

Adam added that the injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where nine passengers, including the two drivers, were pronounced dead by the doctor.

According to the police spokesperson, post mortem examination was conducted and the corpses released to families of the victims for burial.

“Efforts are currently underway to identify all victims and notify their families,” he said.

“Eleven passengers are on admission and responding to treatment,” Adam stated

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, A.T Abdullahi, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. This is as he wished the injured speedy recovery.

The CP also urged drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations. He cautioned them to avoid over speeding, and ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles to prevent such tragic incidents.
