Former Nigerian Military President, retired General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, IBB, has commiserated with the people of Mokwa and the entire Niger State over the recent flood disaster. This is as the former military President described the incident as an act of God.
IBB stated this while receiving a delegation of the Niger State Government led by the State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba. The delegates were on a Sallah Homage to the former military President at his hilltop residence in Minna.
While felicitating the delegates on the celebration of the EiId-Kabir, Babangida lamented the flood disaster at Mokwa.
According to him, what happened in Mokwa was unfortunate and it was ordained by Allah.
“I enjoin residents of the State to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased,” Babangida said.
The former military leader used the occasion of the visit to applaud the administration of Governor Umaru Bago. He praised him for his developmental efforts.
Babangida, however, stated the need for sustenance while assuring of his continued support.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba explained that the visit was to seek his blessings and fatherly advise for the State.
He said, “This government is well aware that you are disturbed by the recent incident in Mokwa. And we appreciate you for your fatherly role at all times.”
