The embattled suspended Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has raised the alarm over a trending viral video which featured where she allegedly claimed that the Senate President Godswin Akpabio is blackmailing President Bola Tinubu to orchestrate her imprisonment.

The embattled Senator, has, however, distanced herself from the viral audio and video.

A viral video flying on social media allegedly featured Akpoti-Uduaghan where she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu to orchestrate her imprisonment.

However, in a statement signed on Wednesday in Abuja, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the video as “doctored” and intended to mislead the public.

She stated that the clip was the handiwork of “desperate elements” seeking to damage her reputation. Incite distrust and create friction among leaders of the National Assembly.

She said, “My attention has been drawn to a video currently trending online purporting to feature me in a conversation with a journalist. In which I allegedly claimed that the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, blackmailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the Federal Government jails me.”

“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from the said video and audio recording.

“At no time did I grant such an interview. Or engage in any conversation of that nature with any journalist or individual.

“The voice in the video is not mine and has clearly been cloned and manipulated with malicious intent.

“This is a deliberate act of misinformation targeted at damaging my reputation. Inciting public distrust, and sowing discord within the leadership of the National Assemblymen and and the Federal Government.

“I find this act not only mischievous and criminal but also a dangerous use of technology to spread disinformation.”

The Senator while raising the alarm, urged Nigerians to ignore the clip. This is as she called it “false, misleading, and the product of desperate elements. With the intent to tarnish the image of a law-abiding and peace-loving public servant”.

The Kogi Central Senator reaffirmed her commitment to justice, truth and responsible democratic engagement.

Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that she had instructed her legal team and relevant security agencies to investigate the origin of the video. This is with the view to bring those responsible to justice.
