A female group known as the Forum of Victimized Females in Nigeria has called on the National Assembly to enact laws that will protect female genders from unnecessary victimization.
The group expressed concerns over victimization of females mostly within the political environment.
FVFN made the call through a press statement jointly signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Bunmi Bamjoko and its spokesperson, Sandra Duru.
The group maintained that the female folks were under perpetual victimization. Mostly in the nation’s political sector by their male counterparts.
FVFN further noted that if the call is adhered to by the National Assembly, it will help minimize the rate of harassment of the female folks. And it would create an atmosphere of serenity and sense of belonging to the women folks.
The leaders of the group pointed out that FVFN has representatives across the six geopolitical zones if the country.
The group maintained that the female folks had suffered a lot, hence the call to enact a law that will protect them from bullying.
FVFN pointed out that the recent case between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on the issue of alleged sexual harassment is a stark reminder of the challenges women face.
The group called for the immediate reinstatement of Senator Natasha and restoration of her privileges.
The spokesperson of the group, Sandra Duru requested that the First Lady of the Federation, Oluremi Tinubu should use her office to ensure that the appeal saw the light of the day.
She said, “We also urge Mr. President to demonstrate leadership in promoting women’s rights and dignity.
“Your administration’s commitment to protecting women’s rights will be a testament to your commitment to a fair and equitable society.”
