The police in Abia State has declared a man, identified as Ibekwe Augustine James wanted for allegedly killing his twin cousins and their mother in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
According to police source, the twins; Moses Chris and Marvelous Chris, were killed and buried in a shallow grave in Umuahia, by their mentally unstable uncle, Ibekwe Augustine James.
This was as James also killed the twins’ mother, Chinomso Nwabali James, but was caught in the act before he could bury her.
The Abia State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
She stated that the matter was reported at the Central Police Station, Umuahia, by a member of the James family.
According to her, the family member, who’s name was not stated reported that on the fateful day. He narrated how he saw his cousin, who is mentally unstable, dragging the lifeless body of Chinomso Nwabali James.
“The alarm raised by the family member caused the suspect to abandon the victim’s body and flee,” Chinaka said.
“Police officers visited the scene of the incident, and the woman’s body was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. Where a doctor confirmed her dead.
“While searching for the suspect and the missing twins at 2 am, the dismembered bodies of the man’s cousins were found in different shallow graves within the community,” said DSP Chinaka.
The police spokesperson added that the bodies of the three victims have been deposited at the mortuary in the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia. She stated that autopsy would be conducted on the bodies.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing mentally challenged suspect,” she said.
