Tragedy struck in the early hours of February 3, 2025, when two brothers identified as Chinedu Okechukwu and David Okechukwu hacked to death a man identified as Ejike Egwundu, aka chief (Ejima) of Amiyi, Ahaba Imenyi.

According to eyewitnesses, the dastardly incident occurred around 10 pm on February 3. They pointed out that the dispute is related to drug dealings.

The two brothers; Chinedu Okechukwu and David Okechukwu (aka umu akpakara,) re said to hail from Umunnekwu-Agbo, also in Isuikwuato.

The sources revealed that the brothers allegedly attacked and killed the chief,on the wee hours of February 3.

The incident, however, has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation in the community.

In a viral video posted on Facebook, the people of the community, mostly youths, converged at the residence of the Okechukwu brothers at Ahaba. The video showed the crowd destroying property of the Okechukwus. After which they set the property ablaze.

The move, ISUIKWUATO VOICE gathered was in a quest for justice and a demonstration of zero-tolerance for heinous crimes in the community.

The source reported that the police have been notified of the incident and an investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators, who are the run.

The youth are demanding that justice be done to avenge the death of Chief Egwundu.

The community is also calling for swift action to be taken against the brothers. They urged for measures to be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

 

 

According to one of the community leaders who spoke on the grounds of anonymity, he described the incident as shocking.

He noted that the incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

The community leader, however, sued for peace and urged that calm be restored.

While pointing that the family of the deceased has been left to mourn the loss of their loved one, he added that the community is rallying around to provide support to them during this difficult time.
