A land dispute in the Amai Community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State has claimed the lives of a father and his 50-year-old daughter.

The man simply identified as Mr. Aghanti, and his 50-year-old daughter identified as Mrs. Atagoshi were said to have been beheaded by those pretending to resolve the dispute.

VANGUARD reports that the victims were said to have been lured into the bush by a suspect who pretended to want to resolve the land issue. The man and his daughter’s headless bodies were later discovered in the area.

Mrs. Atagoshi, a secondary school teacher, earlier reportedly purchased a piece of land in the community that became a subject of contention, VANGUARD stated.

The incident has been confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

He said, “The suspect called the woman, saying he wanted to discuss the land issue. He then took her and her father into the bush, killed them, and beheaded them.”

Vigilantes apprehended a man identified as Emeke, who was found in possession of two human heads. He was lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob. The recovered heads were confirmed to belong to the father and daughter,” Edafe narrated.

The Delta police spokesman added that the main suspect remains at large. He, however, assured that the police are making efforts towards apprehending prime suspect.
