Major shakeup in the military by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has thrown up Major General Fejokwu as the Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army. This is even as the COAS approved the posting and appointment of some senior officers to various command, staff and instructional positions.
According to military source, the development was a strategic move to enhance operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency in the army
The redeployment cuts across Principal Staff Officers, PSOs, at the Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding, GOC, and Corps Commanders. Also affected are Commandants of Army training institutions, Brigade commanders and other key positions.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.
He stated that the reshuffling underscores Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring robust and dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing emerging security challenges.
Nwachukwu noted that some of the senior officers appointed as PSOs at the Army Headquarters include Maj Gen L. A. Fejokwu. Until redeployment, Fejokwu who was at the National Defence College was redeployed to the Department of Army Administration. He will serve as Chief of Administration.
Maj Gen G. U. Chibuisi, from Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Department of Civil-Military Affairs, appointed Chief of Civil-Military Affairs. While Maj Gen A. S. Ndalolo, also from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre was posted to Department of Army Training. He is now the Chief of Training.
Others include Maj Gen O. S. Abai, from Department of Army Training to Department of Army Transformation and Innovation. He is now the Chief of Transformation and Innovation. Maj Gen J. H. Abdusalam, from Headquarters 6 Division to the Department of Special Services and Programmes. Abdulsalam is now the Chief of Special Services and Programmes.
Maj Gen E. I. Okoro has been redeployed from the Department of Army Logistics to the Department of Military Secretary. He will serve as the Military Secretary.
Senior officers appointed GOCs include Maj Gen O. T. Olatoye, from Nigerian Army School of Infantry to Headquarters 82 Division/Joint Task Force, JTF, Southeast, Operation UDO KA, OPUK, as GOC 82 Division and Commander, JTF OPUK. And Maj Gen E. F. Oyinlola, from Department of Military Secretary to Headquarters 3 Division as GOC 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, OPSH.
