The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has facilitated the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the State.
According to reports, the brides, who were well cared for before the wedding, received the necessary attention for their beautification.
“A dowry of one hundred and fifty-one thousand Naira was paid for each bride by the Governor’s wife,” the report said.
Among household items provided to the couples by the Governor’s wife included sets of furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils.
Also presented was a financial grant of N50,000 to each groom. The money, which serves as a grant, is to help them to start a business and become self-reliant.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Hajiya Lawal urged the brides to show respect to their husbands. She also urged them to practice patience in their families.
Lawal, however, assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would always be available to support them. She encouraged them to always report to the Board in case of any issues with their husbands.
