Rebranding is the practice of giving a new and better sign or mark on an asset of great value. It could also extend to mean the ideology of acquiring new cultural values to replace the old unpleasant ones.

In other words, to acquire a new cultural identity that endears the wearers to partners in whatever relationship.

Rebranding philosophy in Nigeria was once espoused and championed by the ex-NAFDAC boss, Late Mrs. Dora Akunyili.

Just like a new broom that sweeps clean and also raises dust, the clarion call of that philosophy became a regular chant in many quarters in those gone days.

The slogan became so popular and widespread that it became a house-hold slogan.

Seminars, workshops and lectures were organized in many places to drive the message of the expected new culture home. However, like an old harlot in a new environment, the rebranding philosophy pulled mammoth followers initially.

Over time, the swing and sway of that philosophy later died and was buried without lamentations.

Whether we have rebranded or still rebranding could be measured from the stress of the hardship in the land.

What are those bad cultural behaviours rebranding wanted to jettison? Are they still holding sway in our modus operandi or rebranded completely?

Are bribery and corruption still the order of many things in the land? Telling millions of lies in politics, stealing and lobbying, marginalization and nepotism, are they still holding sway?

Poverty, hardship, price hiking and the likes, are they common practices of the present time?

Have we rebranded or still rebranding? If still rebranding, how long will it take us to complete it?

If no longer rebranding, why? Is the old lifestyle that called for rebranding now better comparatively?

Provide your own answers to the foregone questions and rebrand accordingly in consonances!
