An ex-okada rider, Donatus Matthew who rode on the wave of the Obidient movement in the 2023 general election to win the House of Representatives seat in Kaduna South has dumped the Labour Party.
Matthew who represents the Kaura Federal Constituency, has now abandoned LP and switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lawmaker had defeated Gideon Gwani, who was the House of Representatives Minority Chief Whip from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Recall that Mattew’s victory had sparked enthusiasm among many activists in Southern Kaduna. That was even so, when he unseated a four-term incumbent lawmaker of the Kaura Federal Constituency from the PDP.
One of those who have expressed disappointment over the defection is Stephen Kefason.
The activist was one of those who celebrated Mathew’s triumph at the time. But he now expressed his regret and disappointment over the Mattew’s defection to APC.
Sharing his sentiments via his X account, he said, “This opportunistic ex-okada rider, who capitalized on Peter Obi’s popularity to secure the House of Representatives seat for Kaura Constituency in Southern Kaduna, has shamelessly defected to the APC.
“He has failed miserably as a lawmaker. Boasting 0 bills and 0 motions to his name since joining the National Assembly.
