The Delta State Government has announced the commencement of the promotional interviews for civil servants in the State. The interview according to the Government is slated to start from December 2 and on December 12.
According to sources, the affected officers are those on salary grade level 12 to 16. They must also be due for promotion in January and July 2025 respectively.
The reports pointed that the move is aimed at mitigating the delays in promotion. Which have been a source of concern both to the government and many civil servants.
Report from Asaba said the interview panel is being chaired by the Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko. This is even as officers who came for the exercise on Monday expressed their joy and appreciation for the early interview. They described it as a proactive step towards addressing the accumulation of promotion arrears.
The civil servants, therefore, commended the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for his efforts in improving the working conditions of workers in the State.
They also praised the Head of Service, Bayoko, for aligning himself with the Governor’s MORE agenda. They noted that agenda prioritizes the welfare of workers in the State.
One of the respondents Augustine Itawansa, a Deputy Director, expected to be promoted to Salary Grade level 17 expressed gratitude to the government. He, however, urged the government to sustain this development by organizing promotion interviews in November or December annually as presently done.
The officer described the Monday exercise as seamless. He noted that the interview would help reduce the issue of accumulated arrears to its barest minimum.
