The Abia State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Abia, Gladys Adama, has admonition course officials against extorting money from members for the 2024 Batch “C’ Stream 1 orientation. She admonished them to instead treat the members with love, care, empathy and courtesy.
Adama made the plea on Tuesday during a pre-orientation camp meeting at the Umunna Bende NYSC Abia Orientation camp.
Speaking at the event, Adama, called for synergy and application of emotional intelligence in handling the Corps members. She also warned the officials against over socialization, extortion and corporal punishment of corps members.
The coordinator, however, warned that there should be no compromise in discipline.
The Camp Director, Hellen Anyeze, in her own remarks, called for cooperation in mentoring the Corps members.
Speaking also at event, the Camp Commandant, Captain E. T. Clement stated the need for better security in the camp.
He reiterated that security was everyone’s business. “And as such, every observed security lapse should be reported to the security personnel for appropriate action,” Clement said.
The 2024 batch ‘C’ Stream 1 orientation course started on Wednesday, November 27.
