The Niger State Police Command has stated that three suspects are currently in police net for allegedly stealing a tipper truck worth over N30 million. The incident, it said occurred along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway in Suleja, Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.
It gave the suspects names as Nura Ibrahim, Adamu Ibrahim and Abdulfatai Ibrahim, all of Kaduna Road, Suleja, Niger State.
This was disclosed by the Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna, the Niger State Capital.
He said the three suspects were arrested for joint acts, theft and receiving stolen property.
“On October 14, 2024, at about 1 pm, information was received that a tipper truck, white in colour, with engine number 071231, and chassis number AZ1642440082 worth over N30 million was found in a workshop along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Suleja. And it was suspected to be a stolen vehicle,” Abiodun said.
The PRO also explained that police operatives attached to Maje Division moved to the scene and discovered that Nura Ibrahim, 37, had negotiated to sell the truck to Adamu Ibrahim, aka Dan Borno. He was said to have bought the truck at the rate of N9.5 million.
“They had started selling the vehicle in parts to parts buyers before the arrival of the police at the scene.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Nura stole the said truck from Lugbe area of FCT and took it to Kaduna Road. While Adamu bought the stolen truck and Abdulfatai aided the transaction,” SP Abiodun disclosed.
He further added that the suspects are under investigation and will be charged to court as soon as possible.
Abiodun also disclosed that one Jamilu Ismail, 32, of Shaku village, Lapai, was caught with three stolen handsets. The arrest, he said, followed an alarm raised by one of his victims.
“The phones were recovered from the suspect after he was searched by police officers,” he said.
