The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District and former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has praised God for the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Senator Monday Okpebholo in the just concluded Edo State governorship election.
Reacting to the victory, Oshiomhole described the victory as an act of God, saying ‘What God cannot do does not exist.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday declared Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress winner of the election.
Okpebholo garnered 291,667 to beat his closest contestant, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 247,274 votes.
Addressing journalists in Benin City on Sunday night, Oshiomhole said “anything that God cannot do does not exist”. He, therefore, emphasized that “those with wisdom know that power only resides with God”.
“When some people said the election was do or die, we said no. It is about choice.
“Today, God, by His infinite powers, has decreed that Senator Okpebholo to make up for 8 years of disaster caused by Obaseki and Asua together,” he added.
‘APC victory well-deserved’ – Ganduje
Reacting to the electoral victory of the APC candidate, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, described the victory as well deserved. He, therefore, congratulated Monday Okpebholo for emerging as Edo Governor-elect.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, on Sunday in Abuja, Ganduge said Okpebholo’s victory was well-deserved.
“The triumph was a testament to the confidence the good people of Edo had in the progressive vision and leadership of the President Bola Tinubu-led APC administration,” he said.
Ganduje, therefore, emphasized that Okpebholo’s victory reflected the trust and hope placed on his leadership.
According to the National Chairman, the victory also reflected the hard work and resilience of other party members and supporters. Who ensured a free, fair, and peaceful election.
Ganduje expressed confidence that with Okpebholo’s leadership, Edo was poised to witness unprecedented growth, peace, and development. He pointed out that Okpebholo would transform the lives of Edo people.
The National Chairman also assured Okpebholo of APC support. He stressed that APC would support his administration and work with him to ensure that the vision of a greater Edo was achieved for the benefit of all.
Ganduje used the opportunity to thank President Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, for their immense support. He stated that the victory was for all the people of Edo.
