The word ‘extreme’ connotes the last end of anything. It is the elastic limit of anything that stretches. Therefore, when the extreme of anything is reached, invariably there is no longer a space for further advancement.
Extremes could apply to both physical and psychological components or values. It measures how much something could stretch and endure before it can snap.
Psychologically, Nigerians are known for extraordinary endurance capacity. They could face and endure excruciating pains of mistreatment to superlative degrees.
Before Nigerians would react violently to any unhealthy situation, no other people in the whole world can face such and succeed.
Hence, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti once captured such a formidable mentality in one of his Afrobeat songs as, Suffering and Smiling!
Obviously, Nigerians have extraordinary endurance and tolerance capacities. It is only at extreme cases that they could rise in unanimity to say, Enough Is Enough! And when they stand to fight back, whoever is the perpetrator of the prevalent evils had better turn and run or rebrand immediately.
From May 29, 2024, till date, Nigerians had run the gamut of all sorts of excruciating suffering in continuum. Cosmetic political promises of resolutions keep pouring from the government quarters, but to no avail.
For how long must feverish birds keep trembling before their keepers, but getting no effective attention?
Such is the present situation Nigerians find themselves. Now, they want to march out in great numbers to express their grievances in a nation-wide protest.
All their patience and endurance strategies have been stretched to their extremes. They want to protest to drive their grievances home to the government in power!
It is their democratic rights to air their minds and express their grievances. Therefore, let nobody stop them!
