It was an emotional moment as the remains of the three victims of a building collapse in Kano were on Monday laid to rest.

Recall that on Thursday the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA announced the death of two children following the collapse of a two-storey building at the Noman’s Land, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State. The agency also announced that two others sustained injuries in the incident.

Among the victims included two children of the tenant of the ill-fated building and a nephew.

PUNCH Metro gathered that despite endless rescue operations, four days after the tragic incident, the first daughter of the family, identified as Dmilila, was still missing. As of the time of filing this report there is no traces of her.

PUNCH Metro reports that the parents of the victims, who are the only survivors of the incident are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The mass burial, coordinated by Pastor Michael Eyien, was attended by a mammoth crowd. The sympathizers thronged the Hamadiyya Cemetery to pay their last respects to the victims.

Recall that the National Emergency Management Agency, in Kano, had on Thursday confirmed the deaths. The agency stated that two children were confirmed death, while two others suffered injuries.

While speaking on the incident, the NEMA coordinator, Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, confirmed the deaths.

He said: “The agency received a distress call today at about 2:00 a.m from a Good Samaritan. He pointed out that a two-storey building had collapsed. The person gave the address at the Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano predominantly occupied by non-indigenes.

The cause for the collapse of the building has not been disclosed.
