The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, The Senator Austin Akobundu sponsored training of over 400 youths in engineering and robotics have successfully come to and.
The youth empowerment programne was packaged by the Senator Akobundu Foundation, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
The free training/empowerment of children/youths of the Abia Centra Senatorial District saw youths trained areas of engineering and robotics. They learnt how to create game apps, animated cartoon characters, built housing and estate prototypes with various facilities. They were also taken through exotic and heavy-duty vehicle prototypes with exciting fittings etc.
While addressing the participants during the graduation ceremony on Friday, 30th August, at NOSTROCOM House, Umuahia, the sponsor of the programme, Senator Austin Akobundu congratulated the grandaunts. He admonished them on the bright prospects of the future with the skills they have acquired.
He said, “The skills you have learned here are keys to a future filled with possibilities. Whether you choose to pursue careers in technology, engineering, or any other field, the foundation you have been equipped with here will serve you well. Embrace these opportunities. Continue to learn, and share your knowledge with others. The future is yours to shape.”
Expressing gladness at the successful completion of the programme, Akobundu described the participants as “the future of Abia Central,”.
“With the skills you’ve learned, you have the power to transform our community, contribute to our economy, and inspire others. I am committed to your success and will continue to support initiatives that create more opportunities for our youth to learn, grow, and excel.”
The Senator further assured the participants, their parents and other guests at the graduation of his dedication to listening to their needs.
He said, “As people of my constituency, I am working tirelessly to creating more pathways for progress for you.
Akobundu, therefore, reiterated his commitment to make the Abia Central Senatorial District great. He, however, solicited their support and cooperation to make the vision come true.
“Together, we can make Abia Central a beacon of innovation, education, and opportunity,” he assured them.
The over 400 participants were drawn from different LGAs of Abia Central Senatorial District. They were aged between 10 and 18.
In their various responses, the participants thanked the Senator Akobundu for his kind gesture towards them. They promised to use the skills learnt to improve themselves and for the greater good of society in general.
One of the parents of the participants, Ugochukwu U., expressed delight at the new skills his child was empowered with . He expressed appreciation that the training was at no cost to him and other parents.
He thanked the Senator for his commitment to the future generations and pledged the support of parents/guardians to him.
Highlights of the graduation ceremony included the exhibition of prototypes of solutions to real world challenges. Exhibition of excellent grasp of software applications amidst several other projects demonstrations.
The participants were also presented with certificates and customized school bags.
