I am writing to bring your attention to the pressing issues faced by the town of Acha in Abia State. Acha, with a population of over 60 thousand people, is a marginalized gateway into Abia State. It is situated on a vast agrarian table land spanning over 50 kilometres.
One of the major concerns of this community is the deplorable state of the roads. The roads are in such poor condition that they have become virtually unpassable. This hampers transportation and connectivity, making it extremely difficult for the residents to travel, transport goods, and access essential services. The lack of proper roads is a significant hindrance to the town’s development and growth.
Furthermore, Acha suffers from the absence of civil, social, and government infrastructural presence. Basic amenities such as schools, hospitals, and markets are either inadequate or nonexistent. This lack of infrastructure severely impacts the quality of life and limits opportunities for the residents of this community.
As a border town with Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, Acha should ideally benefit from its strategic location. However, it appears that the community has not experienced the advantages typically associated with being a border town. We believe that Acha has immense potential for growth and development, given its fertile agricultural land and substantial population.
Therefore, we kindly request that you declare a development emergency for Acha-Isuikwuato without further delay. The people of Acha deserve the opportunity to thrive and improve their living conditions. By investing in the necessary infrastructure, such as improved roads, boreholes, schools, healthcare facilities, and marketplaces, the government can unlock the economic and social potential of this community.
Additionally, we would like to remind you of the benefits that could arise from focusing on the development of Acha. The agrarian nature of the town presents an opportunity for agricultural expansion, increased productivity, and income generation. Moreover, improved infrastructure and government presence will attract investment, create jobs, and uplift the overall standard of living for the residents.
We urge you to prioritize the needs of Acha and work towards addressing the challenges faced by the town. By doing so, you will not only uplift the lives of over 60 thousand people but also contribute to the overall growth and development of Abia State.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We hope that you will take immediate action to address the concerns raised and declare a development emergency for Acha-Isuikwuato.
