The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, of Bauch State, on Wednesday maintained that there would be no protest taking place in the State.
This is even as he warned anybody planning to organize any protest in the State to think twice.
The SSG, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, stated this in a press briefing at the Government House, Bauchi. He dismissed any speculation of protests occurring within the state’s borders.
Kashim was speaking against the backdrop of the planned nationwide protest.
He said, “On the part of the government, we completely dissociate ourselves from any protest. We are not aware. And we are not welcoming any protest. It’s not going to happen in Bauchi State.”
The SSG highlighted Bauchi State’s reputation for peace and tranquility. He, therefore, emphasized that the government is resolute in maintaining the peace in the State.
“If they insist on protesting, they should do so elsewhere, not in Bauchi State,” Kashim cautioned the organizers.
According to him, the security architecture and all agencies are on high alert and will not permit any protest within Bauchi State.
He, therefore, urged residents to continue their daily activities without fear of disruption and molestation.
The SSG also reacted the reports on the closure of primary healthcare centres in the State by some media.
He noted that the alleged plan for the closure was without government consent, approval, or knowledge.
“We will investigate the matter thoroughly. And appropriate actions will be taken against those responsible,” he stated.
The SSG also assured the public the primary healthcare centres across the State, along with all public institutions, will remain open as scheduled. He, therefore, urged the public to disregard any misinformation regarding their closure.
