The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has made a clean sweep of all the 21 Local Government council seats in Adamawa State and the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The two LGs elections were conducted in the two States on Saturday.
Announcing the results in Adamawa State, the State Independent Electoral Commission, stated that Chairmanship all the Councillorship seats were also won by the ruling PDP. The electoral body pointed that the election was conducted in the 226 wards in the State.
It, however, stated that PDP was defeated by the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in the Demsa Ward of the Demsa Local Government Area.
Announcing the results, the Chairman of the State Electoral Commission, Mohammed Umar, said the ruling party won overwhelmingly in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
Umar stated that out of the 19 registered political parties in the State, 12 participated in the exercise.
The results were declared on Sunday evening at the Commission’s headquarters in Yola, the State Capital.
In a related development, the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DESIEC, announced the results of the Local Government elections conducted in the State.
DESIEC stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won all seats in Saturday’s Local Government election.
The election, it said was conducted across 500 Wards in the 25 Local Government Areas of the State.
According to the Commission, the LG election was contested by ten political parties. The parties fielded candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The results were declared by the Chief Electoral Officer and Chairman of Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Raphael Agbaike. He said the PDP contested and won in 24 LGs in the July 13, 2024, election.
He, however, explained that the Chairmanship candidate of the PDP in Udu Local Government Area was returned unopposed.
“The PDP candidates for councillorship positions contested and won 499 electoral Wards. While the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won one electoral ward in Oshimili North Local Government Area” he declared.
