The Imo State Police Command has dismissed the recent security alert about kidnapping and criminal elements in the State, describing it as “misleading” and “unfounded.”
This was contained in a statement by the Command following rumours of kidnapping and criminal activities in Avu and Obinze.
But the Command dismissed the rumours as the handiwork of mischief makers. It stated that mischiefs are seeking to create panic and sabotage public confidence in the State’s security.
The statement read, “The Command views this recent publication as the handiwork of mischief makers. Who are trying to create unwarranted panic, negativity, and palpable fear in the minds of Imolites.”
The Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, therefore, assured the residents of their safety. He stated that the Command is “working tirelessly to rid the area and the entire State of all forms of crimes and criminality.”
Danjuma urged citizens to disregard the publication and go about their daily businesses without fear. He assured that the Command is committed to making sure all roads and areas in the state are safe.
“We are committed to making sure that all roads and areas in the State are safe for Imolites.
“We encourage well-meaning citizens to assist the Command with relevant information that will help to achieve a crime-free Imo State.”
