The Adamawa State Police Command has revealed how a fake money doubler, a 36-year-old man, Aliyu Yakubu, confessed to murdering his client, identified as Bassey Isah.
According to the reports, Yakubu told the police that he promised to print Naira notes for Bassey. He also promised to make the victim rich overnight.
Taken in by the promises, Yakubu succeeded in collecting from Bassey, valuable items in the process.
According to the report, the items collected at various times included three bags of maize, and a Toyota Starlet car. Others were a motorcycle, and a Carry-Go tricycle.
In a statement issued by the Adamawa State Police Command, Yakubu was arrested on June 13, 2024. The police trailed him to a resident of Jalingo Daddawa village in UBA, Hong LGA. He arrest was in connection to the killing Bassey Isah.
According to the police spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, Yakubu was arrested after dishonestly obtaining these items from the victim. He deceived Bassey into accompanying him to a forest, where he struck him with an iron rod. He also buried his corpse in the forest.
“The suspect confessed to the allegations and will be charged with culpable homicide at the conclusion of the investigation,” the police stated.
