Recall that Nigeria’s Democracy Day was marked on May 29. It was, however, was moved to June 12 in 2018 under former President Mohammadu Buhari.
The shift, according to the former Buhari’s Administration was done to honour the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election. The election was cancelled by then Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, when it was obvious that late Moshood Abiola won.
The Federal Government is expected to declare a public holiday to mark the day.
