President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway, ONEX as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga. He stated this through his official X handle.
According to Onanuga, the decision to name the Road after Prof Soyinka was due to his contribution to African literature.
Recall that Soyinka is the first Nigerian to win the Nobel Literature Prize.
The statement read, “President Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway. This is as recommended by the FCT administration. In naming the Road after the distinguished playwright, President Tinubu said Soyinka had brought honour to Nigeria. “The President said Soyinka has brought honour and fame to Nigeria,” Onanuga said.
The Special Adviser added that the decision was recommended by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under Nyesom Wike.
