The remains of the traditional ruler of Ohafia Kingdom, Abia State, Prof. E. U. L. Imaga, the Udumeze Ohafia, will be buried on July 6, 2024. The interment will take place at his country home, Elu Ohafia, Abia State.
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman and co-Chairman of the burial Central Working Committee, Prince Kalu Ikpemini and Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN.
The press statement signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Uma Ntima, noted that the funeral would start on July 3 through July 6. And the final rites of passage of the late monarch will be on the 6th.
The Committee, however, stated that given the level of preparations, the late monarch would be given a befitting funeral.
We are working hard to see that the late monarch is giving a funeral that befitts his status and accomplishments.
The Committee stated, “The unique Ohafia tradition, custom and culture will be on display in the weeklong activities. While not undermining the late monarch’s Christian faith and belief.
“The academic community where the late monarch spent most of his adult life culminating to the attainment of the status of a professor will not be left out in the chain of the activities. A day of tributes and exhibition of his academic works will equally form part of the package,” the statement emphasized.
The Committee pointed that late monarch’s reign equally ushered in unprecedented harmony amongst Ohafia citizens. It also brought unity of purpose within the clan and, therefore, led to the reawakening of the relevance of the Ohafia Community in the politics of Abia State and Nigeria.
The Committee, therefore, called on all and sundry to work in synergy to give the late monarch a befitting funeral. They enjoined all well-meaning Ohafia sons and daughters residing in Nigeria and in Diaspora, including friends, neighbouring Communities for cooperations.
The Committee also urged sons- in-laws of the Ohafia people to participate physically and virtually in all the activities.
